Pair Caught After Fleeing Area Walmart With Stolen Items

A pair were busted by police in Fairfield County over the weekend after allegedly shoplifting from a Walmart before becoming combative with a loss prevention officer.

Police said that Danbury residents Delton Rogers, 22, and Luis Torres, 26, were arrested on Saturday, Aug. 18 for shoplifting at Walmart on Newtown Road after they were spotted entering and stealing merchandise from the store without paying.

When the two were confronted by a loss prevention officer, Rogers became aggressive and starting pushing him, according to Danbury Police. The two proceeded to flee the store and left in a car, driving away from the area, according to police.

According to police, officers were able to track them down at a Harrison Street residence, where they were arrested without further incident and transported to the Danbury Police Department.

Both men were charged with larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny. Rogers was also charged with an additional charge of robbery after he physically attempted to resist the loss prevention officer, police said. Rogers was released on $2,500 bond and Torres was released on $500 bond. Each is due back in court at a later date to answer the charges.
